In sailing terms, "making way" means making progress - moving forward in the water. At the Making Way Project, we are committed to moving forward, supporting progress, and making way for more girls to access the benefits of learning to sail.
Sailing is much more than just a sunny afternoon on a boat. Among others things, there are lessons to learn on the water, like weather and physics. Teamwork, as well as opportunities to build confidence and self-reliance. And there is adventure, along with dreams. The feeling of freedom.
The Making Way Project is a registered non-profit organization located in Toronto, Canada. To create more opportunity, the Making Way Project is partnering with local community groups to bridge the gap for girls (ages 8 to 17) who have an interest in learning to sail. In providing the opportunities and funding for learn-to-sail summer programs, we will make way for more girls. In doing so, we hope to inspire a new generation of sailors and a more diverse, inclusive sailing community.
